Giving Thanks

I came up with a Thanksgiving Menu which included:
Pumpkin Cupcakes w/Cream Cheese Frosting
Strawberry Cupcakes w/Nutella Frosting
and
Chocolate Chip Cookies

I am so pleased with all the orders I received from my menu!!! I even had two orders placed that were not on the menu. With that being said, I will be posting a Christmas and New Years Menu as well! I can't wait! And to give you a little teaser on what's to come for the New Years menu.... these will be ADULT ONLY cupcakes. I think this year, my Little Shop of Treats has really taken off and growing. I am so blessed and thankful to have friends, family and new clients supporting me. I am also thankful for my followers here that take time to read my blogs. THANK YOU! Without everyone, I wouldn't have the confidence to bake or expand my baking ideas.

Made with Love

I love baking and when I bake, I tell my kids that I ALWAYS bake with lots of love. When I made these cookies the other day, this one chocolate chip caught my eye...

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

I've made a new batch of cupcakes!!! This time, I made strawberry cupcakes with Nutella frosting. Yes, Nutella!! When you first bite into the cupcake, you taste the hazelnut/chocolate and then following that you taste the strawberry. Kind of like eating an actual chocolate covered strawberry. :)

Pumpkin, Spice and Everything Nice

Last week, I decided to make some homemade pumpkin cupcakes with homemade cream cheese frosting. I have to say, I think this is by far the best cupcake I've made.... according to my family. The cupcake came out light and fluffy as well as the frosting. I've tried to make homemade frosting before but, this time it came out perfect!! I even took a few to work to get the opinion of some co-workers. They loved them as well. I know what I'll be making around Thanksgiving! :)

You can have your pie and eat it too!

Today is my son's 14th birthday! Instead of a cake, he wanted me to make him a pie. So, I made him 2 lemon meringue pies and 2 chocolate pies. He loved them!! This was the first time I have ever made any kind of pie and both turned out pretty good. Next pie I want to make is pumpkin. Sure there're easy to make from what I've heard but, I still want to make them for myself and hope they come out well. Pictures to be posted soon of the two pies I made for my son.

Oh Me Oh My, I Like Pie

My son's 14th birthday is coming up this weekend. I asked him if he wanted me to make him a cake.... his response was "no, I want a lemon meringue pie." This will be my very first attempt at making a homemade pie. If this pie comes out great, then I think I will try making more pies.

Bake Sale

This past week, I took orders for cookies and cupcakes. I didn't think I was going to receive many orders but, I think I did pretty good for the first time. For the first cookie order I filled nine dozen cookie orders which consist of 5 dozen bacon chocolate chips, 2 dozen chocolate chip with walnuts and 2 dozen butter pecan. These orders were filled for Wednesday. I then took a second order which turned out pretty good too. I sold 7 dozen cookies, a half dozen cupcakes and 1 dozen brownies with walnuts. I feel good about these two days of sales. I love to bake and hope the sales continue to grow. I can't wait for the next turn-out of orders!

Taking Orders

I have been trying to figure out how I'm going to start selling my baked goods.... Sure, I've set up a table here and there a few times but, it wasn't consistent. My husband meets with other artists every Wednesday for "Skessions" so, I brought my idea up and asked if it would be cool to take orders from them. I am starting off taking cookie orders to see how that goes. If it goes pretty well the next few weeks, I think I may start taking orders for cupcakes and/or brownies too. So far, I only have one order but, I posted my pitch just last night to the Skessions artists. Keeping my fingers crossed and I hope this turns out a pretty good success.

I am also excited that one of Mike's friends asked if I do character cakes. This is going to be something new I would like to do. I'm going to make a mock cake and see how it comes out and if it looks great, then I will take his order and hope for the best. I am pretty confident I can do this. I knew that trying to get my little side business off and running will take lots of patience and hopefully one day it can be full-time.

Chocolate, Caramel & Pecans.... Oh My!

I am always trying to come up with a new type of cupcake, cookie or just about anything sweet. I wanted to try making a cupcake that had a filling. Sure, I've tried it with my Raspberry Devils but, I wanted more. This is what I came up with.... Chocolate Turtle Cupcakes. SWEET, GOOEY AND DELICIOUS WITH A LITTLE CRUNCH. On this recipe I didn't use actual caramel, I used a mexican caramel called CAJETA. I used this because I wanted something different than the usual caramel. This also gave me a chance to work on making homemade buttercream frosting.

Late Night Snack

The other night while watching t.v. with Mike and the kids, we wanted something sweet. I didn't bake anything that night or the night before. With a little help from Graham Crackers, Nutella and Bananas, we ended up with a pretty good snack that was quick and easy to make.... even for a seven year old. :) aka: my daughter.

Pipe Playing

So, I'm trying to frost cupcakes rather than the easy "slather on" way. This was my first attempt in piping and I have to say.... I think I did pretty good. I love baking cupcakes and with any chance I can get, I want my cupcakes to look great! There will be more cupcakes to come soon!

Perfecting a Cookie

So I saw this idea for a cookie... not your ordinary chocolate chip cookie. This cookie had an Oreo cookie inside. I figured I could replicate this cookie but, in my own way. It turned out, using a muffin/cupcake pan worked better than just baking them on a cookie sheet.... way better!
